The Baby tealight holder designed by Doriana & Massimiliano Fuksas with Alessi is made in porcelain by means of a dual-casting technology that allows the inner and outer surfaces to be made in different colours. The thicker, outer layer is cast first, followed by a second casting to for the interior. This process, however, does not create the holes in the object, rather, it simply leaves faint outlines marking their position, thus facilitating the subsequent step of carving them out by hand. The light inside T-light filters through Baby's lattice pattern resulting in a striking effect of light and shadows on the walls. The Baby Tealight holder is available in two colour combinations: brown and blue, or white and red. It comes in a glossy finish. The same colours and finish are used for the Tealight holder’s base, assuring overall continuity throughout the object.
