Citterio Antonio
Antonio Citterio is an architect and Italian designer born in 1950 in Meda, in the province of Milan in Lombardy. He was graduated from the Polytechnic school of Milan and opens his own studio in 1972 when he carries out projects in architecture and decoration of interior.
As a designer, Citterio collaborates with some of the most important companies of the international design: Arclinea, B&B Italia, Flexform, Flos, Kartell, Glazed. In 1987, he gains the gold Compass for his Sity Sofa.
From 1987 to 1996, Citterio works in collaboration with his wife: the architect Terry Dwan and constructs many buildings.
In 1999, he founds Antonio Citterio and Partners a multi-field workshop of design, architecture and graphics which has offices in Milan and Hamburg. Citterio teaches architecture but is especially recognized as a designer. His style is characterized by a allied discretion and a simplicity with a rather technical approach of the design which one can bring closer to the work of Alberto Meda. It results from it from creations such as the system of Mobil arrangement for Kartell which receives the gold Compass in 1994. This system reflects the interest of Citterio for flexible objects and the attention paid to the choice of materials, a semi-transparent methacrylate plastic.
Citterio collaborates for a long time with some of the most important companies of the design as Vitra, Kartell and especially B&B Italia.
