There is a reason for its being shape like the paper containers used to hold jam. Since the lid can be used as a dish, you can divide out the contents of the container. Since the lid fits the container perfectly, even when it's reversed, it could perhaps be used to hold condiments when eating soba. You could even put thelid undeneath the container and use it as a saucer. This is a product that had been achieved precisely because Japanese artisans are able to createaccurate shapes in porecelain. It's a simple shape, but one that, while it feels like it already existed, actually didn't ; it's a new container shape. Since it's possible to imagine a variety of uses, the fun lies in thinking of your very own way to use it.
