Giovanni Alessi Anghini was born in Milan. He spent his early years as a student in German-speaking Switzerland, often travelling to the UK and the US.

Having studied Anthropology and Sociology at Florence University, he moved to Milan to study Industrial Design at the European Design Institute. Here, he worked for two years as a designer in Stefano Giovannoni's studio.

He has been working freelance since 2006. He currently lives and works on Lake Maggiore.
