Meda Alberto
Alberto Meda is an engineer and Italian designer, born in 1945 in Lenno Tremezzina. He obtains his diploma for the occupation of engineer in mechanics at the Polytechnic school of Milan in 1969, and began his career as engineer assisting at Magneti Marelli.
Alberto Meda's career took off in 1973, following his meeting with Giulio Castelli of Kartell and becomes the chief technical officer of this specialist company in the manufacture of objects out of plastic. During this period he tried out new plastic materials like the polyurethane and of new processes.
In 1979, he becomes engineer and independent designer. Since, he creates many objects and works for famous brands such as Alias, Alessi, Ideal Standard, Luceplan, Mandarina Duck, Philips, Vitra…
Contrary to much of Italian designers which have a training of architect, Alberto Meda has a training of engineer.
The design of Meda, purified and elegant, often calls upon technical innovations.
